The Prime Minister meets Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus
|
Polish – Belarusian political and economic relations were the main subjects discussed at the meeting of Polish Prime Minster Donald Tusk with the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Andrey Kobyakov. The PM has underlined the will and need to improve Polish – Belarusian relations. "We expect increasingly frequent mutual signs of openness," he said.

The Prime Minister on the difficult process of bringing Poland and Belarus closer together

"The improvement of Polish-Belarusian relations by means of the wise use of political instruments has been our priority since the first day of this government," said PM Donald Tusk during the 1st Poland-Belarus Economic Summit. He further expressed his joy that something positive is beginning to happen between Poland and Belarus, as everybody knows how difficult were the first steps of bringing Warsaw and Minsk closer together.

UN Prize for the National School of Public Administration
|
The National School of Public Administration has won this year’s first prize in the UN competition entitled ”Advancing Knowledge Management in Government”. The school participated upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery.

Summary of the Brussels Summit
|
The European Council session with an agenda focusing on gas, financial system supervision, climate protection, and guarantees for Ireland has just closed. European leaders also spoke of Eastern Partnership, and of electing a new President of the European Commission. “The Polish position was practically in accord with all conclusions adopted by the European Council,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk after the press conference, which followed the summit.

The First Day of the Summit Favourable for Poland
|
Decisions concerning candidates for the position of the head of the European Commission dominated all debate during the first day of the European Council summit. "The Council unanimously decided to support Jose Manuel Barroso," said Prime Minister Donald Tusk following the close of the discussions. When commenting support for J.M. Barroso, Mikołaj Dowgielewicz, head of the Office for the Committee of European Integration, concluded that such developments are favourable for Jerzy Buzek as candidate for President of the European Parliament. Decisions concerning climate protection funding and Eastern Partnership are also advantageous for Poland.

The Prime Minister Talks to the Prime Minister of Slovenia
|
Prime Minister Donald Tusk met the head of the Slovenia government, Borut Pahor, in Brussels. During the meeting, both leaders spoke of the economic situation, of counteracting the results of the global economic crisis, and of the Croatian accession negotiations. Prime Minister Pahor congratulated the head of the Polish government on the country’s effective struggle with the world crisis. He also expressed hope that Poland will share her good economic policy practice with Slovenia.

Meeting of the Polish and Italian Prime Ministers
|
“There are still two candidates in the game,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk following his meeting with Silvio Berlusconi. The candidate in question is to assume chairmanship of the European Parliament. Poland supports Jerzy Buzek, while Italians prefer their own Mauro Mario. Prime Minister Tusk added that the final decision on the issue might be made only on July 7th during a vote of the European People’s Party. According to the Polish head of government, high accolade offered to the Polish candidate by heads of many states gives Poland hope for success in the vote.
